A Covenant with the People
The strength of American society is built on the hard work of the working-class.
As a party, our goals are to:
Raise the minimum wage to a living wage ($20 hourly);
Ensure that workers are fairly compensated by their employers;
Protect unions and the power of collective bargaining;
Create a worker advisory board where workers may voice their grievances and concerns directly to their elected representatives; and
Encourage the practice of providing more paid-time-off and the 4-day work week.
Theodore Roosevelt is widely regarded as the "Trust Buster" President. Therefore, keeping with his mission to root out corruption out of business and our politics, the Tennessee Bull Moose shall target the systemic corporate greed present in our 2-party system through multiple differing methods.
Halting quid-pro-quo political bribery;
Stronger political finance laws to ensure fairness and stamp out fraud in our elections;
Banning politicians from owning corporate stocks to combat insider trading; and
Closing the revolving door on politicians and lobbying.
Americans have become less able to afford basic necessities, and the Tennessee Bull Moose will directly tackle this issue through several different avenues, which include;
Helping parents and guardians by implementing Universal Pre-K (Kindergarten);
Lowering Rental Costs on housing; and the
Forgiveness of Delinquent Power-Bills.
In 1912, Theodore Roosevelt and the Bull Moose Party expressed this sentiment when they advocated for the creation of a "social insurance", which would assist in providing healthcare to all Americans. The Tennessee Bull Moose will continue to build on this promise to fight for expanding the ACA and TennCare. The ultimate goal is achieving Single-Payer Healthcare, which will provide free healthcare to all and ensure that nobody is driven into poverty for injuries and illnesses that are beyond their control.
Everybody knows that our 2-party electoral system is broken and doesn't accurately reflect the electoral will of the American people. The Tennessee Bull Moose will aggressively pursue policies that expand our right as Americans to vote. These policies include instant-runoff voting, same-day voter registration, early voting, term limits, and allowing any form of government identification to vote.
The state of our educational system is a disgrace and is something that needs addressing. There are a few methods that the Tennessee Bull Moose will pursue to make our educational system successful for our students and teachers.
Increase funding to public schools;
Untie property taxes to the amount of funding individual public schools receive;
Increase Teacher wages ($60,000 Annually); and
Free Tuition for higher education, trade schools, and work programs.
Keeping with the Bull Moose Party's historical support of Equal Suffrage for men and women, we advocate for the expansion of civil rights and freedoms to protect all people, in an effort to create a more egalitarian society, where people will not be discriminated against based upon their race, ethnicity, color, sex, gender, religion, creed, sexual orientation, disability, age, and national origin.
The government should not hinder the rights of what Americans can and can't do with their own bodies. The Tennessee Bull Moose shall pursue the protection of bodily autonomy by the Legalization of Marijuana and Protecting Women's Right to Choose.
Keeping with the traditions of the Bull Moose Party, our founder Theodore Roosevelt was an avid gun enthusiast, and encouraged all Americans to be proficient in marksmanship. The Black Panther Party would also employ firearms in the protection of their community from systemic forms of oppression that African Americans were facing during the Civil Rights Movement. With these historical allegories in mind, the Tennessee Bull Moose shall pursue alternatives that won't infringe upon our constitutional rights.
Addressing the mental health epidemic;
Addressing wealth inequality and poverty;
Comprehensive and speedy background checks;
Encouraging training courses and gun safety; and
Ending the drug war, thus handicapping gangs and cartels, and the violence they cause.
The protection of the environment and our infrastructure that we depend on go hand-in-hand. The Tennessee Bull Moose in keeping with Theodore Roosevelt's dedication to protecting our environment, we will pursue mutually beneficial solutions that benefit the environment and protect our infrastructure.
Protection of our wetlands to safeguard our communities from flooding; and
Adopt alternative energy sources to power our cities, which reduces our impact on the environment, relieves our burdened power grid, and drives down cost on electricity.
Note: The original party platform in 1912 is not entirely reflective of the Tennessee Bull Moose currently. It's a source of inspiration and we recommend that all Bull Moose read through it, but it does not fully encompass what we advocate for now.
